EUMEDIS Focal Point For Palestine

EUMEDIS aims at developing regional applications with user communities in the largest number of Mediterranean countries. Project consortia will be composed of at least two private and/or public entities coming from European countries and a maximum of private and/or public Mediterranean partners. Therefore proposals containing partners in the twelve Mediterranean countries will be considered a priority.
Sectors for Application

The five sectors of application of EUMEDIS pilot projects will be :

  • Information and communication technologies applied to Education, (this sector will implement pilot projects related to the creation of multilingual courseware, the development of co-operative education and training courses, the creation of public educational data-base management platforms dedicated to multiple regional priority themes of research and education)
  • Electronic Commerce and Economic Co-operation, (this sector will implement Online shopping applications particularly in the retail, finance and travel sectors; will fund Internet Banking regional platforms inclusive of the full range of customer services and products, will fund (Web based) Direct marketing applications, will fund Business to business online solutions in the field of inter-entreprise co-operation, online solutions for Distributors, metasites which provide a gateway to e-commerce information dispersed online etc.; this section will finally cover Teleworking solutions, particularly in the field of outsourcing between northern and southern companies )

 

  • Health Care, (such as measures to foster exchange of experiences, multi-country training in public health, creation of specialised regional, multidisciplinary databases for professionals, creation of multi-lingual metasites, creation of patient oriented information and guidance services, creation of special tourist oriented healthcare systems, organisation of epidemiological surveillance groups, implementation of computerised solutions for tele-diagnosis and workshops aiming at the development of co-ordinated policies in the treatment of major diseases).
  • Multimedia Access to Cultural Heritage and Tourism, (this section will support the creation of specialised “webs” of culture-related Internet hosts, the reorganisation and streamlining of existing cultural resources dispersed online, the extension to the Mediterranean region and, if applicable, the commercialisation of relevant research results obtained during prior Community funded initiatives, the implementation of cultural tourism projects, the launch of tourism related public services in other travel markets
  • information and communication technologies applied in industry and innovation (this section will fund information technology solutions for business processes -i.e. Internet based “virtual companies”, projects aiming at the transfer of IT innovation to business, projects aiming at industrial IT-based production, and high speed computing industrial applications)
